I would like to be able to claim that the blue tinted shot below was my original intention, but it wasn’t.
Fact is I was setting up early one morning to take the shot above on a side street in Alexandria, Virginia, when I accidentally kicked my tripod and ended up with the blurry version below. I kind of liked it, so I added some color to it. One photography teacher told me “the difference between a guy with a camera and a photographer is intention.” The photographer knows what he’s going to get when he hits the shutter. But I also think that beyond intention, it’s what you do with the final result and how you use it.
There’s not much interesting about the shot above except that it was taken in the dark. The mistake is more interesting and has led me to experiment “intentionally” with camera movement on other projects.
