Lt. River - Early Autumn

The Lieutenant River in Old Lyme, Connecticut is part of an estuary that flows into the Connecticut River just north of Long Island Sound.

I paddled through in mid-October as the tall grasses were taking on a more fall like golden color.

The Lt. River was often the subject of impressionist painters who stayed at the nearby Florence Griswold House; among them, Childe Hassam, who worked in Old Lyme during the early 1900s.
