Disturbances

You probably saw pictures last month of the Martian sky over New York City and other parts of the northeast United States.

The smoky skies were caused by Canadian wildfires and we are promised more of the same before the end of the summer with Canada expecting a more active than normal fire season.

In the days immediately after the worst of the wildfire smoke my part of New England was covered with dramatic clouds rumbling overhead from great distances. The clouds did not look threatening in terms of the moisture they were carrying - it didn’t rain at all - but they were imposing as was the illusion that they stretched on forever and were now a permanent part of the landscape.
